The No Period Drama Campaign is a series of online and offline events by the online peer Education Organization, BodyTalk throughout May in celebration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day on the 28th of May 2019.
Poor menstrual hygiene caused by a lack of education on the issue, persisting taboos and stigma, limited access to hygienic menstrual products and poor sanitation infrastructure undermines the educational opportunities, health and overall social status of women and girls around the world.
BodyTalk is addressing this by:
- Raising awareness through a Social Media campaign throughout the month of May on Menstruation and encouraging women to share their funny/frustrating/ or embarrassing menstrual stories using the hashtag #PeriodDrama.
- Carrying out school visits in Buea, Yaounde and Bamenda to hold educational talks with both students and personnel.
- Organizing a series of Workshops on Menstrual Hygiene Management in partnership with different organizations:
Buea: 25th May at FHS (In Partnership with The Brains and MIDWISA)
Yaounde: 28th May at NextGen Center Nsimeyong
Bamenda: 28th May at Lavena Center (in partnership with Hope Alive Association Cameroon)
