Blueprint Hakeem has released the video to his 2016 song Abongwa…
The song Abongwa may have been rooted as the last track (9) on the Cameroonian rapper’s already released 2016 Cold Like Alaska’ album, but fans definitely agreed it was a top and first choice to gather every push Blueprint Hakeem‘s album needed.
Released just a few days before Cameroon plunged into a crisis, the single however has not stopped being one of Hakeem’s favourite conscious releases till date. 2 years after the audio release, Blueprint Hakeem took to his Facebook a few days ago to announce the release of the video to Abongwa.
Written by Blueprint Hakeem and produced by Chabi Z, the rapper shackled ideas with Cameroonian video director Yonka, to paint a vivid picture of an already solid-state written story.
Abongwa is a story of a kid who wishes to go to school like regular kids do, but coming from a poor family juxtaposed with a useless and drunk of a father, those dreams may never come knocking.
The song sees Hakeem taking up two personalities as the second verse takes on another storyline, this time, involving a substance abuse character, Bobga. Bobga became a marijuana addict after his rich father passed away. He became a loner, depressed because life wouldn’t smile as it used to when ‘daddy’ was alive.
It’s a story from a very true place as Hakeem admits, he simply coupled up ideas of the things he saw in his neighbourhood while growing up, especially after looking at struggling children.
The colourful video by Yonka Films matches perfect dramatization as Hakeems’ song narrates, same time. Get the video to Blueprint Hakeem’s ‘Abongwa’ here and tell us what you think.
